Year 1 Plan 

Focus Area: Data Systems 

Overall Outcome Goal Year 1: By June 2023, review and identify sources of data to be collected, reviewed and utilized in monitoring of behavior and academic outcomes.

Usable Practice: Develop and implement a system for data collection, review, monitoring and assessment that can be used to shift student outcomes. The collected data will assist in making an informed decision by zeroing in on priorities such as behavior and academic outcomes to establish a plan to improve disproportionate student performance and behavioral outcomes particularly for marginalized students.

By December 2022, the implementation team will review data currently collected and the collection process and systems, in order to see if the data gives insight to our priority focus areas of behavior and academic outcomes.

Focus Area: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support 

Overall Outcome Goal Year 1: By June 2023, review and revise MTSS policies and practices of behavior, academic and SEL in each of the seven district schools.

Usable Practice: Develop and implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that is culturally responsive to racially, culturally and linguistically marginalized students to inform data driven decision making to provide culturally responsive tiered supports to shift discipline and academic outcomes.

Review present suspension data, as it relates to students of color and the disproportionality of their suspension rate, in order to align the present code of conduct to support the new mission & vision.  

 

Create a “crosswalk” or a connection between the mission and vision and current code of conduct to evaluate where the district needs to focus and improve.

By June 2023, K-12 SEL alignment, Rollout Yale RULER approach in 5/7 schools to give students, parents, teachers and administrators a common language to promote SEL by aligning with the vision/mission and CRSE.

Overall Outcome Goal Year 1: By the end of June 2023, select teachers, staff and community members will gain familiarity with the moral imperative, have an understanding of key terms (disproportionality, bias, gender identity) and have some experience interpreting data for disciplinary actions and academic outcomes/access for students of color.

Usable Practice: Develop, disseminate and implement a professional development plan, using our existing professional learning structure, that is culturally responsive for educators and addresses disproportionality and academic outcomes, disciplinary measures, and curricular access for marginalized students.

By December 2022, identify which lead learners will be trained first, including leaders, teachers and staff and subsequent training at each school.

Train building-level leaders on goals and how to assess building concerns. 

 

Work with each building principal to develop building level teams consisting of mental health, administration, teachers, staff and students. 

Adoption of the plan through December 2022 

Check in on a quarterly basis to assess progress and revise goals and implementation strategies. 

 

By the end of December 2022, leaders will be identified and have met at least once. 

By June 2023, disseminate a PD plan to incorporate culturally responsive practices for lead learners, including teachers, students (secondary) and staff.

Focus Area: Family and Community Engagement  

Overall Outcome Goal Year 1: By June 2023, an assessment and evaluation of existing community engagement practices and communication will be conducted. By June 2023, a structure to enhance and improve community outreach by assessing where we are and building a committee to improve communication will be established.

Usable Practice: Identify, develop and implement a sustainable system for family and community engagement that ensures representation of racially, culturally and linguistically marginalized families in order to build effective ongoing communication between community members and the school district staff.

By June 2023, the Family and Community Engagement Team (FCT) will review, through the lens of equity, any family and community engagement existing policy, practices, or protocols.

Use various lenses such as HSA communication, school communication.
