Safety Notifications

Safety Plan Notice:

Pursuant to the NYS Education Commissioner’s Regulations, the Port Washington Union Free School District’s Safety Team annually reviews the District-Wide Comprehensive School Safety Plan, which was first adopted by the Board of Education in June, 2001. A copy of the updated plan is available in the District Office Facilities Department, as well as here.

Asbestos Plan Notice:

The Port Washington Union Free School District, in accordance with the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act of 1986, states that it maintains a current record of all asbestos containing materials located within the district’s buildings. This information is included in the district’s Asbestos Management Plan as in updated in accordance with NYS and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations. The building plans are available in each school building and all are available in the Facilities Office.

 

Pesticide Notification:

The district is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff.  In compliance with New York State Education Law, Section 409-H, effective July 1, 2001, requiring all public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools to provide written notification to all persons in parental relation, faculty, and staff regarding the potential use of pesticides periodically throughout the school year.  The district has pursued an integrated pest management and organic grounds-care program and is required to maintain a list of persons who wish to receive 48-hour written notification of certain pesticide applications.  In the event of an emergency application, necessary to protect against imminent threat to human health, a good faith effort will be made to supply written notification to those on the 48-hour prior notification list.
