Fall 2024 Driver’s Ed

Registration for Port Washington residents will begin Wednesday August 21, 2024 at 9:00am. Registration for non-Port Washington residents will begin Thursday August 22, 2024 at 9:00am

There is a limited number of spots and registration is a first come basis. Parents must register students for both classes: A Theory and a Driving Car Class.

The Fall semester of Driver Education is scheduled to begin the week of September 9, 2024 and conclude as late as January 27, 2025.

This 16-week program includes 24 hours of classroom instruction AND 24 hours of driving instruction, with each student spending 6 hours behind the wheel. Additional driving practice outside of class is required by New York State.

Students must be 16 years of age with a valid New York State learners permit by the first day of class.

Tuition is $725, $825 for non-residents. After the start of the semester, there will be no refunds.  There will be a $25 fee for any refunds given before the start of the program. Scholarships are available for students enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program.

Attendance at all classes is mandatory. If attendance requirements are not fulfilled, a student will not be issued a certificate of completion and will not receive a refund.

In-car driving lessons will be provided by Bell Auto Driving School. Each car will have four students per session.

Theory class will be either Tuesdays OR Thursdays.

Students who successfully complete the requirement for this non-credit course will receive a Student Certificate of Completion (MV285), which includes an insurance premium reduction certificate. After receiving the MV-285 and passing the road test students will then receive a class D license at 17.
