Dear Port Washington Community:

I am both frustrated and deeply disappointed that I must inform you once again that we have found swastikas in one of our schools. This time, the images were found in the boys’ locker room at Schreiber High School. In compliance with our protocols, the incident was immediately reported to the Port Washington Police Department. At the current time, the investigation is closed. We will continue to be vigilant in our monitoring of bathrooms and locker rooms, and if any student has any further information to share, please reach out to a staff member. If any new information develops, and we find the person(s) responsible for this reprehensible behavior, they will face the severest consequences allowed by law and our Code of Conduct.

To be silent in the face of antisemitism is to be complicit in its perpetuation. We will continue to do our part in speaking out against hatred, educating our students about its dangers and actively working towards a future where antisemitism is eradicated and every individual is valued. We ask your support and commitment to do the same at home and in our community.

I want to commend the student from Schreiber High School who brought this to the attention of Schreiber administration.

In partnership,
hynes
