PW Challenger Basketball Team in District's Debut Home Game

This afternoon our PW Challenger Basketball team, a team of students from Weber MS and Schreiber HS participated in the district’s very first home game of the season against a team of students from Mineola.  Coaches Lisa Castaldo (Schreiber PE), Sandy Jozefowski (Schreiber PE) worked with the students after school for the past three weeks, developing basketball and athletic skills that helped them compete this afternoon.

Special thanks to all the student volunteers from Schreiber’s Letter Club, families, friends, Port Cheer, district staff and administration for their support today!

The “Challenger” athletics program offers students with special needs that participate in Adapted Physical Education the opportunity to be part of a school sports team, and to compete against neighboring school districts.  The current structure includes Port Washington students in and out of district, grades 6th thru 12th, and has both boys and girls on the same team.
