Congratulations to Schreiber High School Social Studies Department Chair Lawrence Schultz, who was recently honored with the Harry C. Charles Outstanding Social Studies Chairperson Award by the Long Island Council for Social Studies (LICSS). This distinguished award recognizes exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing social studies education across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Mr. Schultz has led the Schreiber High School Social Studies Department for more than ten years. He began his career in the Port Washington School District in 2006, and has taught U.S. History, AP World History, Global History 1 and 2, AP Psychology and Government & Economics.
Craig Medico, a social studies teacher at Schreiber High School, shared his perspective on Mr. Schultz's leadership in his nomination letter: "Mr. Schultz is an ideal educational leader and a strong supporter of social studies instructors. While many administrators tend to specialize in one area of study, Mr. Schultz possesses a strong command of world history, U.S. history, and the social sciences in general. In my 22 years of experience at Schreiber High School, I have witnessed many educational leaders, but few who possess Larry's commitment to the field of social studies and the well-being of his staff. He is an advocate for our discipline, ensuring that our students graduate as informed, critical-thinking citizens."
The Port Washington School District congratulates Mr. Schultz on this professional achievement and thanks him for his continued service to our students and faculty.
