The Department of Transportation notified us Thursday afternoon that road work previously scheduled to take place during evening hours will now have to be done during the daytime, in part, because of the unseasonal temperature at night. Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 30th at 9 a.m. Work will continue daily until 2:30 p.m. Work will continue until approximately one week before Thanksgiving. This will involve lane closures on Port Boulevard between the northern intersection with Campus Drive and will go north as far as Sandy Hollow Road.
In an attempt to alleviate some of the anticipated traffic congestion, the Port Washington Police Department and the School District have agreed to open the traffic gate on St. John’s Place for school district staff only. Safety of residents of the area and our student body is our first priority and we will have security posted in the area to keep a safe environment for all.
Please share this information with everyone since the daily life of all residents will be affected by this necessary roadway improvement.
