Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate!

Welcome Back and Welcome to Our New Families:

I trust our DALY STARRS are relaxed, having fun, and continuing to recharge their batteries as we quickly approach the beginning of the new school year on Wednesday, September 4th. Our outstanding Staff has been hard at work unpacking boxes, setting up bulletin boards, and preparing for your children’s arrival. Excitement is in the air!

As we reflect upon the successes of last year, I wanted to remind the Daly Community of the personal character traits we instill in our students coupled with the rigor of our academic curriculum. As Daly STARRS, we continue to be Safe Truthful Accepting Respectful and Responsible. These core values, coupled with the success of our #Kindnessrocks campaign, are the foundation that we move forward into the 2019-20 school year.

Last year, each student participated with their grade level in a philanthropic project. We believe that it is our job as educators to not only nurture and inspire academic growth, but to also bring awareness to the idea of giving back to our community, or rather take action for a good cause. As a school, we donated money to several worthwhile organizations, made chew toys for the North Shore Animal League, donated pajamas to children in need and watched as our second graders ran throughout our halls to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand. This year’s theme of Compassion Counts will further the DALY STARRS awareness of themselves and how to treat others with consideration, respect, and compassion.

We have many exciting and new initiatives this year. Working closely with our incredibly supportive HSA and community organizations (ED/HEARTS), we will continue to provide enriching experiences to compliment and extend our core curriculum.  As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage the positive use of social media and technology, keep an eye out for: Disconnect to Connect.  This program, developed by our own staff members, will help create healthy boundaries at home and in school, focusing on increasing interpersonal and direct communication skills.

Please join me in welcoming our new general music teacher, Tyler Mason-Draffen (Mr. Mason). Most recently, Mr. Mason taught General Music/Chorus for 4 years in the Bronx. He sings in a church choir, and has composed and produced his own album in addition to one for another artist. Mr. Mason is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and enjoys both the books and the soundtrack (#RavenclawHouse). We also welcome Dr. Chantelle Persuad to the Daly family. Dr. Persuad will be working part time along with Ms. Massone providing math support to students grades Kindergarten through 2nd.

Your support and our home school partnership are vital to maximizing each student’s educational and personal development. We look forward to working together to enable your children to reach their fullest potential during the upcoming school year.
