    Dear Parents/Guardians:

The faculty, staff, and administration of Schreiber High School welcome you to our annual Open House. You will have an opportunity to see a snapshot of the courses that your child is taking this school year.

Given that we are operating under the restrictions due to Covid-19 we are running a virtual Open House this fall.  In order to access the classes and teachers you will need to login to your child’s Portnet Google account which is easiest to do through your child’s Chromebook, but can be done from any device using the child’s Portnet Google account and password.  From there you can select the Google Classroom you plan to attend.

Once you are logged in to Google Classroom you will see the name of each course in which your child is enrolled. Simply click the course whose meeting you want to attend and you will find the link needed to enter the digital meeting at the top of the “stream”.  (All Schreiber teachers use Google Classroom, but may make use of either Zoom or Google Meet as their hosting software in Google Classroom.)

Please follow our special Open House schedule (different than your child’s typical schedule) below. Parents will see their child’s regular schedule through the Parent Portal for Aspen and should translate the schedule into the special Open House schedule.

The chat features of both Google Meet and Zoom will be disabled for the evening. When you enter the meeting, please turn your mic off. Since the purpose of the evening is to share important information about the course please direct specific questions about your child to their teacher by email.

In short, there are three steps to accessing class during virtual Open House:

    1. On the parent portal you will find your child’s schedule so that it can be translated into the special schedule below.
    2. Use your child’s Chromebook to access each teacher’s Google Classroom (pictured below).
    3. Join the class by getting the access code at the top of the classroom feed (pictured below) and/or your child can help you login.

                                                                                                    Sincerely yours,

    Ira Pernick
