Dear Salem Families,
I hope this letter finds you all well rested and rejuvenated for an exciting year ahead. Ms. Hansen, Ms. Oldak, Ms. Costello, Mr. Mike and the custodial staff and I have been getting things ready for this upcoming year. All of the teachers have been coming in during the summer working hard preparing the classrooms for the arrival of your children on the first day of school.
For some of you, this is the first time you are sending your child to Salem and, for others, this might be the last year your child will be with us. Each year brings on different emotions, milestones, and growth. Embrace each of these throughout the year by celebrating and acknowledging them.
I spent time this summer reflecting and have set goals for this upcoming year both personally and professionally. I am committed to being the best leader I can be for Salem and our community.
I ask that each of you take some time with your children to both reflect on last year and set goals for this upcoming year. By having you and your children set social, emotional, and academic goals, it fosters growth and models how we are always striving to be better people.
This upcoming year we will be focusing on Salem’s core values of Respect, Outreach, Compassion, Kindness, and Sensitivity through the character development program called Salem
R.O.C.K.S. We are using Salem’s kindness rock garden that we started last year as a springboard for our character development program this year. As a community, we will be teaching and modeling respect, outreach, compassion, kindness and sensitivity to our children. Remind yourself of this throughout the year and I hope that these core values are topics of conversation at home as well.
We are a community…a family! I have seen it time and time again these past three years how we come together and support one another. I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
Enjoy the last week of summer!!! With warm regards,
Salem ROCKS commUNITY!!!
