• Dr. Kimberly Licato

    Principal

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself as the principal and educational leader of Guggenheim Elementary School.  I attended the University of Delaware for both my bachelors and master’s degree and received my administrative certificate from Queens College.  In 2016, I received my doctoral degree from St. John’s University.  I had the unique opportunity to visit the world-renowned Finnish schools as part of my dissertation process, which shaped me not only as an individual, but also as an educator and administrator.  I have presented information germane to my dissertation and experiences in Finland at various administrative conferences.   The “whole child” approach to education I observed while studying the Finnish schools is something I believe in whole-heartedly.  I constantly strive to consider the child’s best interest in every decision I make throughout the academic year.

In addition, I have 19 years of public school experience as an educator as well as administrator.  I have spent the past 15 years as both an Assistant Principal in grades K-8 as well as a district director for world languages and ENL.  Additionally, I come from a family of educators who have exposed me to this profession my entire life.

I am truly honored to be given this opportunity and look forward to continuing my journey as an educator and working with the Guggenheim Elementary School community for years to come!  I look forward to my continued work with the staff, students and community here in the Port Washington School District.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 516-767-5250 or by e-mail me at klicato@portnet.org
