Long Island YA Author visits the Weber Library!!
Eighth grade students at Weber came to the library to hear Gae Polisner (from nearby Greenlawn)speak about her newest published YA novel, The Memory of Things. Teacher Librarian, Ms. Herz organized the event after reading the novel about a 16 year-old Stuyvesant High School student's experience on the morning of September 11th and the aftermath. Ms. Polisner spoke about the writing process - at first the product can be lousy, but one rewrites and reshapes the work. She commented on how it took her ten years of rejection to get her first book published, but this did not deter her! Her message to students: never stop doing what you love!
