Mrs. Block has been teaching for 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oswego. During her junior year, she was an exchange student at the University of Puerto Rico. She graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude.
Mrs. Block began her teaching career as an ESL/Bilingual Education teacher. She received her Masters in Special Education from Adelphi University and became a Resource Room Teacher in 1981. For several years, she was also an adjunct faculty member for Adelphi University teaching a variety of graduate level courses.
After 11 years of teaching, Mrs. Block and her husband, Lewis, had their first son and she decided to become a professional mother. Eventually, they had three more sons. She returned to teaching in 2005 at Manorhaven Elementary School as a Resource Room teacher, where she has happily worked ever since.
Mrs. Block has an Advanced Certificate from Brooklyn College in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is currently completing an Advanced Certificate from Stony Brook University in Educational Technology. She is a member of many professional organizations. Each year, she attends numerous professional conferences and workshops. Mrs. Block considers herself a life-long learner.
Mrs. Block enjoys spending time with her family, going to the lake, and gardening. One day, she hopes to write a book about all of the wonderful experiences she has had as a teacher.
