PWEF funded the "Multicultural Mentors" Project. The primary objective for Multicultural Mentors is to develop an opportunity for cultural exchange and expression for English Language Learners (ELLs) at the elementary and secondary levels. We will use literature as a medium to inspire and develop students’ cultural voices, allowing high school students to serve as cultural guides and mentors to younger students. Elementary students will serve as a supportive, authentic audience, allowing high school students to practice their English language skills in a comfortable space. ELLs at both the elementary and secondary levels will engage in literacy and cultural arts experiences to support the development of their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through the guidance of their ESL teachers and theater and expressive elocution specialist, Elise May.
